My review on Steven Roberts

Today i  have been looking at Objective and Topographic Photography, And have chosen to write a review on the British Contemporary Photographer Simon Roberts. I really enjoyed looking at Simon Roberts photography especially his 'We English' work. I found i have been to many of the places he has photographed so i feel i have a connection towards them and can understand then more. I like the fact that he doesn't choose what people are in the images, that it's just people going on with there everyday life.

you witness people living, you see them carrying out there daily routines, family's, children playing, couple's and pets. I feel they make a really bold statement, that you can also relate to you think about when you've been there and what you did etc... You start to wonder why there there, looking at each individual person, seeing what there wearing, thinking about who they are, also what they are thinking about and how there feeling what mood there in.

I think you can really connect to Simon Robert's images and gain emotions towards them, they leave you thinking and captivated in the moment. Overall i think he is a very talented photographer in the way he thinks and in the way he produces his images.

White Balance- Research

White Balance- Research.

In this piece of writing i am going to define what white balance is, and how i can use/set it using my canon D500. First of all i set my camera on either F, TV, or AV. The sophisticated image processing of the Canon D500 delivers extremely Stable White balance. This then ensures the natural skin tones in photo's, as well as adding true to life under low colour temperatures such as tungsten lighting. Tungsten lighting is a term used by photographers to from florescent lighting or strobe lighting.Tungsten is a type of incandescent lighting using a bulb with a filament made of the metal tungsten, as opposed to, say, carbon or platinum. You can adjust the white balance on the camera whilst shooting to create different moods/ effects. However you can also edit the white balance after taking the shot using photo editing software.

You can find the white balance under the menu option as you can see below it will being you to this screen, if you then click on ' custom white balance' you can then move the cursor to where is suitable for you image to create the different moods/colour's and effects.

White Balance Two:

This image is the final outcome from experimenting with white Balance, I used the P setting and then edited the image later on using photo shop to create the large differences within the photo. All these photos are taken on my Canon D500.

Non edited version of the image:

This version of the image was taking just using the p setting, with no white balance and no editing done on it afterwards.

 However as you can see in this image, i have used the same technique then afterwards i have used the white balance tool, to create a dark gloomy uninviting effect to the image. I used cyan and fushia colouring to make the image darker but yet bold then used the saturation tool to create the wintry cold effect.

In my final image, i thought i'd try make an extreme colour change and go for a autumn setting. I think this one has worked really well and creates a great effect to the image. All together i think i have created three images using different white balance well, as each three show a different mood and meaning.

White Balance:

White balance is a camera setting in which you can adjust the lighting to make white appear white in photo's. You can create different moods such as making the image appear more warm and welcoming, Or making the image more dull and uninviting. White balance defines what the white colour looks like in specific lighting conditions.

Abstract Images

Abstract images- Third try 

I created these abstract images by using the Tv setting on my camera and shot them at a 1/4 shutter speed.

Ferrari; I think i got the outcome i was aiming for with this image, as well as being colorful you can see i have achieved an example of a abstract image which is appealing to the eye.

Superbike, Vision Express; This is my final outcome from experimenting with abstract images, i feel it has come out well and i have combined the necessary components for this image to be more creative and colourful.

I think this would be my best shot, as i think the background and colour's in the image create a natural yet strong effect on the image.

First try at creating a Abstract Image:

I think even though i used quite a basic idea for these images for my first go i feel they came out well, for the first image i used a circular motion to creat the swirl affect on the branches. Where as for the second image i just moved the camera up to lengthen the branches. On my second go i will try use a more colourful setting, and also try this with lighting to create different types of image in which i can compaire.

Second try at creating Abstract Images:

I like this image as it is so colourful, however i feel i could have captured it better.

I like the effect that was created this with one,  although it would have a better effect it the colouring was brighter.

 I feel these two images did achieve what i was aiming for with colour, however i think i need to combine the two now and to keep the colour but still try to take more creative images.
